June 7, 2012 (Alpine) – The Alpine Branch of the San Diego County Library at 2130 Arnold Way has a variety of events for planned for the month of June.  For infants and toddlers story time is held on Wednesday’s from 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. including Local Heroes Storytime on June 13 when Alpine’s Postmaster will be the guest reader.

May 7, 2012 (San Diego) -- Richard C. Atkinson, who served as chancellor of the University of California, San Diego for15 years, was barely four weeks into his tenure as president of the University of California system when the UC Regents voted to end affirmative action in August 1995.

How he dealt with the admissions wars—the political, legal and academic consequences of that historic and controversial decision, as well as the issue of governance—is discussed in a new book by Patricia Pelfrey recently released by the University of California Press entitled The Entrepreneurial President: Richard Atkinson and the University of California, 1995-2003.

March 5, 2012 (San Diego)--It was with these sentiments that I joined so many other authors at this 46th Annual Local Authors Exhibit on February 3, 2012, many of whom have been profiled in the East County Magazine. I visited with such illustrious writers and authors as Joshua Graham, Linda Loegel, Anat Tour, Sam Warren and Zohreh Ghahremani.
