GROCERY STRIKE AVERTED

September 19, 2011 (San Diego’s East County) – Negotiations continued through the night between supermarkets and the grocery workers’ union, despite last night’s deadline when a strike was widely expected to begin. This afternoon, both sides have announced a deal has been reached that will prevent a strike. The deal is tentative, pending a vote by the full union membership.

GROCERY WORKERS CANCEL CONTRACT; STRIKE COULD BEGIN SUNDAY NIGHT

 

Ralphs announced it will shut down all San Diego stores if strike occurs
 

 

Sept. 15, 2011 (San Diego) – After months of stalled contract negotiations over medical benefits, grocery workers issued a 72-hour notice canceling the grocery contract extension and paving the way for a strike.  A strike against Vons, Albertson's and Ralphs supermarkets could begin as soon as Sunday evening.

GROCERY WORKERS VOTE TO STRIKE: PICKETING LOCAL SUPERMARKETS COULD BEGIN THIS WEEK

August 21, 2011 (San Diego) – A grocery workers’ strike at Vons, Albertsons and Ralphs supermarkets could begin as early as this week. Union members voted overwhelmingly on Saturday to authorize leaders to call a strike, with 90% voting in favor.
